My first Angel City FC Game

Everyone watches women's sports.
Everyone had a t-shirt saying this at The Angel City FC vs The Washington Spirits game at the BMO stadium last Sunday. 2026 is the year of female sport, at least for me. This just happened to be my first Angel City game, so it was a memorable day (aside from it being Disney Princess Theme Night).I even got a button, look !
Not to mention the team colors being black and pink, obsessed. It was a different experience than my usual trips to the BMO stadium, but I usually go for music events not really sports. I will say the crowd at an Angel City game made it that much more enjoyable. You can tell the fans feel connected to the players. It was my first impression of the players so I will have to say I appreciate a good goalie and Angelina Anderson, amazing !
The other two players that stood out to me were Gisele Thompson (defender #20) and obviously Ally Sentnor (forward). Again, my first woman soccer league game I’ve attended but those girls were putting in work. Thompson executed the defensive duties vigilantly. Throughout the entire game she was where the ball was. Sentnor made the game tying goal and for that she’s the goat. That being said, I have to talk about Prisca Chilufya. I really thought she was going to be the one to score. The whole first quarter of the game was just her, shot after shot after shot. It was very impressive to see her abs in the flesh.
It was Disney Princess night which was very cute, there were all these little princesses running around the stadium. They had a tiara making station, a castle backdrop where you could take photos, not to mention the only music you heard was disney princes songs. I was not upset, you know I was singing along to every song they played. It was a nice surprise to see Anika Noni Rose (the voice of Disney Princess Tiana) perform the halftime show. She has such a powerful voice, she sounds even better in person. So, I did fan girl a tad, the three year old tiana that was standing there with her did not appreciate her like I would have.
Overall, I was not disappointed with the way the team played. They tied the game but they were so proactive on defense throughout the whole game and they were not scared to go for the shot! I’m excited to see how the rest of the season goes.
