sitting ducks

I was sitting in my uber this morning on the way to work, and right before turning left into the 405 entrance on washington, the traffic from the freeway kept Bret (the uber driver) from entering, and the light for the on going traffic —onWashington changed to green.

So, we sat, and waited for the arrow to allow us to enter the freeway.

While I was sitting there watching the cars from the left start taking off making their way closer as they drove past the intersection, i turned and saw the cars on my right start taking off driving way from where we were. I suddenly became very aware that i was just sitting in the middle of this huge street thats big enough to have five lanes. Two lanes on my left going about 25/30 mph and two lanes on my right going about 25/30 mph. We were just sitting there. Waiting for some bad driver to come and make a bad move or a person who had too much to drink and is still drowsy from the night before to come ram into Bret and I.

The arrow changed and we continued our journey.
